possible location for photoshoot...The Guildford Lane Gallery.

This gallery provides a blank canvas which i thought was potentially suitablt for our photoshoot as it had spaces where light streams through the windows ( something which adds to the julie pike style of photography). This is the second floor of the builing which is pretty much a bare shell but it also has a sense of history and elegance about it through its simplicity. Definately look at the site, these tiny pictures don't do the space justice.

I thought the hazy and airy quality of the building could be combined with some props of our own to create a mood which represents our company and our own interpretation of luxury.

I've been in contact with Yolande Pickett, the manager of the gallery and i've desribed to her what we require the space for, she has recommended the second floor... this is simply an idea i had as i stumbled across the building in my research for contemporary spaces. If the rest of you are interested i'll make further queries into the cost of hiring the space etc....

Final Details on the Echoes of Sonnelence drop:

I wanted to bring some closure to my range for the Lady Libertine S/S Creature of Reverie Collection:

Inspiration : - the pas de deux choreography of the misericordes ballet performed by the Bolshoi ballet. The intertwining of the dancer's bodies inspiring the notion of wrapping fabric and the lines continuing around the body. The juxtoposition of strong; angled; sharp movements and soft; circular; gentle movements also translated into the drop through the use of contrast fabric paneling to suggest strong, angled lines against soft tucking and curved hem lines. The pas de duex reflecting a "love story" of connection and passion.

General : The strongest impression from the range is the continuation of line around the body suggesting the notion of wrapping. Particularly in the Anodyne (hero) range there is a mix there is a contrast between strong angled line and soft flows of fabric (also reflected in the fabrications) that reflect the juxtoposition of the choreography. There is a strong sense of symmetry that creates a harmony to the eye. The silhouette is strong yet feminine, the 50's inspiration in the garment shaping (anodyne range) tying in with the Lady Libertine label/marketing. The mood of the drop has a more feminine, romantic, soft feel than some of the other drops within the collection, inspired by the "love-story" of the Misericordes pas de deux choreography; and reflects the end of summer shift between warm and cool weather.

Colour : Echoes of Sonnelence drop reflects the chosen colurs from the Creature of Reverie colour palette - The fashion colour is Mavverick (purple) the higlight divinity (oyster) with the core colours seen throughout the CofR collection, Repose (black) and Radience (nude).

Fabric : in keeping with the placement of the Lady Libertine label in the market place + its philosophies/branding statement the fabrications need to reflect luxury; femininty while embracing the sensuality associated with lingerie; while connecting with the overall themes int he CofR collection therefore as a company, the collection features the use of satin (silk/elastine composition) mixed with power net (nylon). The use of top-stitching in contrast/highlight colouring also features heavily to enhance the connection with line around the body while connecting the pieces together allowing for a mix an match component to the entwine (fashion) and Ardor (basics) ranges.

In terms of elastications the Anodyne (hero) briefs/bra uses a wider (1cm) elastications with small scollop detailing to enhance the femininty while reasurring the customer the garments are about detail and they are purchasing lingerie rather than a sports brief! Bra elastic would also include the use of silicone layered elastic to ensure the strapless and convertable bras.

Construction of garments - particularly the Anodyne (hero) pieces include the twin zig zag of elastication; tucking/draping of fabric (layers); twin-needle work on mesh paneling.

Details : The use of sheer fabric (mesh) and opaque (satin) contrast to define the lines and links with the dream-like nature of the CofR collection while address in the inspiration for the Echoes of Sonnelence drop - the wrapping and creation of symmetry. Gathering/Tucking of fabric panels found in the Anodyne (hero) range add a softness to the strong seam lines of the contrasting fabric - the soft nature of the silk satin agains the mesh seen throughout the entire drop. Top-stitching detail in contrast/highlight colours are also seen in the Anodyne and Entwine drops, enhancing the overall inspiration of wrapping.

settings and props for the photoshoot

okay, so here are some images of my house the first one is an old dressing table in my parents room, the second is their bedroom and the bottom two are of my dining room/area. We could move the table completely out of the way and shoot lying down on the floorboards with a fur rug and props etc. Also where all the blinds are its all glass so in the afternoon the light all streams in and creates a nice effect....could create something similar to that image maddie posted of the girl in lingere lying on the wooden floor and rug...cant remember who the photographer was...was it julie pike?

These are the photo shoots of Helmut Newton. I really like the way how he present in a way that people didn't expect before. and I like the style of his photos, which is kind of 60s, 70s mood, I think it may suit our brand.

In terms of the photoshoot, I thought the style of Julie Pikes work is really well suited... what do you think?

The Long line bra...

This is one of very few Longline bra's that I could find (and could sneak away and photograph)

It's by Sass and Bide for loveable, and it's a silk satin moulded cup with fexible boning that was very rigid...

The deign lines were highlighted with topstitching (yellow)

Interior of the garment (very structured and mouled, with a top bind and not much elastication going on)




Once the bra was tried on, there were difficulties with the rigidity of the garment. This may be a sizing thing, but due to the nature of the long line, and the fact that there was no elastication around the hem, it didn't sit well under clothing, and was very restricing to wear.

There was not enough elastication around the top either so the cups gaped, it was not a well fitting bra (even after multiple sizes were tried on for fit)

This highlights the importance of elastication in relation to comfort/fit!!

Interesting Design Details found along the way...

Simone Perele Covered moulded cup bra - interesting twist in the fabric covering the cup

Extended lace strap (Maddie you're doing something similar on your bra is that right..?)

No Darts! ruching over a molded cup - (you can tell i really loved this range!)

The button for a detatchable sleeve on a "Boudiour" bra

Twist in the g-stirng back for that Simone Perele set again!

Soft cup design- this photo is no good but it was a one hook fastening and non-stretch silk straps creating a very slight and minimal line at the back.

The Gus!

This one you can't see very well, but I think it's a good example of why you wouldnt bag out a gusset- it takes away from the front design feature of the garment if it were to be bagged out, but as an overlocked peice it remains invisible and flat

A brief with an overlocked gusset- This one was a very short gusset, it ended before the elastic came together a the back, which was uncommon amongst the styles I saw. It left a tiny gap, that you can see right next to my thumb... not damaging, but probably not functional or beneficial (prehaps they had to cut back on fabric for cost reasons!)
