individual theme: cruel fairy tales

Within the topic of "creature of reverie", I am thinking to work out a collection about the reverie of our likely costumers to show their impression of lives. As our costumers are smart, independent, confident and having a great success in their business, they have got something that others are dreaming for. However, they are still normal people, they also have all the emotion just same as others. At the same time when they got such success in their lives, they may lost something as well. Therefore, I decided to make a collection about the emotion of our costumers that we often forget.

THEME: In this individual theme, I am inspired from the Grimm's Fairy Tales. This is a very famous story book for children which is a collection of German origin fairy tales and first published in 1812. I think almost every child have ever heard about those story in their bed time. However, I read an article about the real fact of Grimm's Fairy Tales. It is said that actually the original Grimm's Fairy Tales is a book that will shame mothers when they tell those story to their kids. In the original stories, there are some details about the most controversial issue at that moment int he society. For example, the sexual references, such as Rapunzel's innocently asking why her dress was getting tight around her belly, and thus naively revealing her pregnancy and the prince's visits to her step mother. So fairy tales are not always just about “happiness forever", they also show lots of the humanity morality and the shadow of society. Our likely costumers have reached the age to realize the true colour of the fairy tales. With their experience to live in this society, they no longer believe in the fairy tales which have been beautify. They believe that there won't be success and good ending without hard working. Also at the same time, they are very disappointed about the shadow of this society. That is the emotion that I am trying to present in my collection.

DESIGN CONCEPT: Use the contract between the shadow and light (good factors and bad factors) in the fairy tales to show the negative emotion of the successful ladies. In this way, I want to make the right side of the bra is different from the left side, also the front brief and back brief has different mood of design. The right side of bra and front brief stand for the surface of the fairy tales (the happy mood), then the left side and back brief stand for the deep meaning of the fairy tales (the shadow part). And the design lines, gathers and transparency fabric will be the main elements of the design.


FABRIC: Chiffon, soft net fabric, lace, light knit fabric.


COLOUR: related to the colour palette of the whole group collection of "creature of reverie".


DETAILS: different look from ride side and left side, and different mood of front and back side; straps on different place from usual; design lines around the body. Use a little lace and light chiffon to create the happy mood in the right side of the bra and front side of the brief
