Although i've known for some time the essence of my theme and what it represents, it has been hard to capture in a title until now. I've had a small personal victory ( YAY!) where ive come up with a name, " Daylight Prisms" which conveys many facets of the concept of my theme.
The title basically alludes to the colours, shapes and patterns created through the entrance of sunlight indoors. The prism aspect also references a major part of my concept which is symmetry, mirror images and the warmth of companionship.
When trying to interpret our group theme in a personalised way, i wanted to stay true to the mood we've tried so hard to create; one of a dreamlike state. I began exploring layers, in particular the layers or levels of consciousness and wanted to represent that to some extent in my range. Symmetry appealed to me after i was looking back on previous work i had done a few years back and saw research on the rorshach ink blot test. I decided that i wanted to represent the movement aswell as the calm that can be seen in symmetrical shapes and reflections.
When contemplating colours, i also wanted to be able to use the beautiful and bold hues in our scheme in a generous amount, and not just stay with the safe core black and nudes of our palette. The concept of a prism tranforming sunlight into the colours of the rainbow invites the use of the bold colour while still remaining true to the essence of lady liberitine.....
